Having recently had the amazing opportunity to visit my sister and some of my best friends in Durban, I am a big fan of cheap flights.

So I am excited to share with you the news that Travelstart has a Birthday Sale coming your way in a week’s time.

Search to see if your flight routes are included so that you can get a great deal. It really is no surprise to see what the top five domestic destinations are at the moment:

Top 5 Domestic Destinations 2018

  • Cape Town
  • Johannesburg [O.R. Tambo Airport]
  • Durban
  • Johannesburg [Lanseria Airport]
  • Port Elizabeth

Lanseria, South Africa’s fourth largest airport by passenger numbers, has moved up the rankings in
the past two years owing to increased capacity and a runaway upgrade in 2013. South Africa’s
dominant low-cost carriers, Mango Airlines, Kulula and FlySafair, operate flights to Lanseria. Kulula
initiated its Lanseria operations in 2006, Mango followed in 2010 and FlySafair in 2016. In May,
Lanseria announced plans to double its passenger numbers to more than 4 million within the next
six years.

When it comes to international routes, I found it surprising that Harare topped the list with Windhoek another pleasant surprise in third place.

  • Harare [Zimbabwe]
  • London [UK]
  • Windhoek [Namibia]
  • Mauritius
  • New York City [U.S.A.]

Goes to show that, at least as far as Travelstart is concerned, local really is lekker and hopefully that will only increase in the years to come and move to include even more of Africa beyond just our borders.
