As we continue with the Life during Lockdown series, we have another response from some younger responders. My mate Link Botha got hold of me with the responses from some of his kids:

We are going to hear from Shannon Botha [15], Taylor Botha [13] and Kate Botha [11]:

Question 1: What has your experience of lockdown been so far?

Taylor: So far it’s been quite nice. I have found myself able to relax more. A lot less pressure from school. The freedom it gives us is awesome.

Kate: My experience of lockdown has been interesting but at times it is very boring. Expeshily since we have been having quite a few rainy cold days which means we have to stay inside the whole day and can’t go play outside. Those days I wish we could go back to school but that still won’t happen for a while. Homeschool feels weird but I like it, they do drop-offs for our work at the garage, and mom goes and fetches it. When we were coming from back to mom’s house from dads the roads were very quiet it was strange.

Question 2: What are some of the ways that you have felt connected to people?

Shannon: Video calling my friends and zoom meetings

Taylor: Participating in online Zoom meetings for the Alpha Christian course as a part of Ablaze Youth.

Kate: Since my sisters are back from boarding school in Bloemfontein I get to spend a lot more time with them mostly Shannon and we have not been able to see them much since they live six hours away from us we only get to see them every holiday and most long weekends I have missed them a lot so the fact that they back makes me happy.😊

Question 3: What are you most anxious or fearful about right now?

Shannon: I am worried about how we are going to pass the school year if corona gets worse and we have to stay at home

Taylor: Worry for family members who work in healthcare

Kate: I am worried that scientists and all the people trying to find a cure for the corona virus don’t find a cure and more and more people get covid 19 and don’t get better.

Question 4: What is something that you have found inspiring or uplifting during lockdown?

Shannon: All the nurses and doctors have really made a difference during this lockdown and seeing how hard they work for their country is inspiring. Our President is always positive and doing his best to keep our country safe, I am grateful that he is looking after us

Taylor: I have found the dedication from our president and the fact that he is actually helping our country incredibly uplifting.

Kate: The doctors and nurses and health care people have been working very hard to help people and people work so hard to find a cure. And some of them have lost their own lives by getting covid 19 because they have been helping the people with it. That is inspiring how people put there lives before others.

What would you like to say to your fellow South Africans?

Shannon: God Bless♡we will get through this together.

Taylor: Stay strong, stay inside, stay safe.

Kate: STAY SAFE STAY AT HOME GOD BLESS YOU!!!

Thanks a lot, girls. And Link!
