Sadly my website went down last night and this post which took me a long time to put together disappeared into thin internet air… so i will not be repeating the whole post with comments but i will include all the tweets that made it on to the F.L.O.P. list this week:

Every Wednesday at 12 noon South African time [6am EDT] an inspired and growing number of crazy people from all around the world take part in what is called a Hashtag game. @AFrikkinHashtag [say it out loud] is South Africa’s #1 Hashtag game and is always a lot of fun. The F.L.O.P. [or Fish List Of Prizeworthyness] is the collection of some of the best tweets from each week’s game and is what all seriously comedic Hashtaggers aspire to…

Although it does beg to be said that we saw this as a bit of a unique game and held the hope that it would get people thinking about how easily we use words without thinking about them. Torture is real and horrific and not to be taken lightly and yet we are so quick to call something ‘torture’ when it makes us uncomfortable or is inconvenient or something we don’t particularly like. So the hope with this game as we targeted THOSE things was to remind us that we should be slow to use words like torture when we don’t really mean it and in my opinion never use the word ‘rape’ to speak of anything that is unrelated to that horrific act and crime.

But people seemed to get it and we had a bit of fun as we looked at the things we sometimes take too seriously…

We had @hdtorch aka Heath as our more than capable co-host:

FISH LIST OF PRIZEWORTHYNESS

F.L.O.P FIVE

[5] We don’t need to listen to this from Al to know it’s a winner:

[4] Political Freakshow went super deep with this classic:

[3] Juggernaught brought the pain we have all faced on too many occasions:

[2] James Blonde probably got the closest:

[1] But Stevie definitely took it this week with this one which is probably more relevant to those who don’t have children of their own:

But i thought we should finish with this one from Jessica which although again should not perhaps be the actual word ‘torture’ but certainly conveys some kind of the emotion for those of us who have loved and lost and loved again.

Thank you to everyone who played. Make sure you’re on the @HashtagRoundup if you’re not already so you can find out about all the games as they happen. See you on Wednesday.

love brett “fish” and No_bob and the whole @AfrikkinHashtag crew…
