It’s interesting that both Jesus and Paul financially supported those that they discipled (Acts 20:34 & John 13:29). Can you imagine Bible schools, leaders and churches operating that way today? 🙂
i don’t think there is any evidence of Jesus supporting His disciples – there is evidence of a bunch of women that followed Him supporting Him but i am not sure offhand what the reference is. that verse is not a good one to back up that statement though. it would be interesting to see that happening today though with leaders working to support disciples for sure…
I think its probable bur regardless I don’t think we HAVE to do it that way simply because they did anyway. It just says to me that they were so committed to others and the kingdom that they were willing to take those burdens to allow the disciples to focus fully and learn from the others centered example at the same time. It may not always be possible but I like the heart behind it.
