A little while ago i wrote about a breakfast meeting i had with Brett [great name] from Frys.

He gave me a bunch of their products and i said i’d attempt to cook some up and blog about the experience and invited a bunch of people to join me.

While i didn’t quite get up to speed with inviting people cos life is so rush-rush busy, tbV and i decided last night to try out the Teriyaki Prawn Stir Fry.

[i should disclaim that i am not a prawn fan, but when we went to an amazing Frys food evening a while back i was tempted into trying one of their non-prawn “prawns” and it was actually not so bad so i thought it was worth trying out]

One of the best things about Frys is that they have a whole bunch of free recipe books hanging out on their site which is FryFamilyFood.com but the link to the particular meal we tried out you can find over here.

It began with a whole pile of strange and some unorthodox [for us] ingredients:

And my first job was to decimate the ginger:

Not sure “Decimate” is the actual cooking term but leave some space for improv people. This was a weird one for us as we never use ginger and i am typically not a big fan of ginger, but to be honest the flavouring it added to the dish was really amazing and i suspect we may be cooking with it more often from now on.

The bean sprouts and the cashews were other ingredients we don’t normally cook with although we do both love both of them and they also really added some greatness to the dish.

Time for a light frying of the Frys non prawn prawns to add to the mix.

So chopping and stirring and noodling happened until things were starting to really heat up:

i must just add that the dish we used to make this meal in really Wok’d. You’re most welcome.

And then finally we had a meal that smelled really great [Teriyaki sauce also not being a regular in our household] and also looked pretty exciting:

The proof was in the eating of it and after one mouthful tbV was already declaring that this meal would definitely have a more regular place in our kitchen.

So job well done Frys. i will try give a better heads up for the next one [two weeks time] but in the meantime, why not click on the link to the website, grab hold of the ingredients you need and give this one a try and then come back here and let us know what you think.

Veganna have a good time with these experiments i can tell. Once more, you’re welcome.
