hm. you know, having had a bit of a chance to think about it [once i crawled out from under the pile of stones] i think there is some point to the judgements that have been made. i say ‘judgements’ because they have come across like that which i find very sad. maybe it’s in line with the fact that it’s virtually impossible to read tone into emails and so someone might be saying ‘hey, did you think about this?’ and it can be read ‘you stupid moron, what a loser’ or vice versa.
R15000 in my opinion is a lot for a cycle. i was viewing it from the point of responding to a friend’s request and from the point of view of the guys cycling and i still think it is an incredible opportunity for them if they get to do it. but i do think that money could be better spent as well. so i withdraw my endorsement.
however, in its place let me promo this event which i completely back. The Vision K/Vision V picnic is a fundraiser to support the incredible work that is being done to transform lives in Kayamandi township amongst Grade 10-12’s and so if you are in or near the Stellenbosch area [hey Brits?!] then come along cos it will be a rad vibe.
for all those hating on my blog, why not try and take a different approach. i am very open to discussion and challenge and difference of opinion. But present it maturely and give space for difference of opinion in return. Keep the judgement to yourself and let’s wrestle with what are some very challenging life issues – how to live, how to spend our money, how to impact the poor, how to save the jobs and livelihoods of those who work at World of Birds, whatever it is. but play nice, that’s all i’m asking. and if you continue to choose not to, then i may finally decide that your posts are not worth having around in this space. your choice.
and thankx to all those who do come on and comment and challenge and wrestle but with respect and maturity and open-mindedness. that is how i think we will see things change. and i am all for change.
