psalmthing to chew on: psalm 1

my good buddy rob lloyd just got me a new bible because my old one was literally falling apart and i like the idea of starting again in a sense - rediscovering old favourite passages, underlining new ones, breaking the bible in so to speak... and as i sat and thought where to begin i decided to start with the psalms, and i don't know that i will necessarily read one per day but i [...]

john of ellis talking unlearning

read this post by john of ellis this morning which my beautiful wife val alerted me too saying it was rather good and the message there is exactly spot on. the book 'unlearning' is written by my friend sean tucker and his blog is definitely worth checking out as well take a read here or find sean's blog over here - i don't always agree with everything he says - and i generally enjoy his [...]

book review: everyone gets to play [john wimber]

i have been involved with the vineyard church for around ten years now and although i am never going to be a ‘lift high this denomination over another’ i have really enjoyed most of my time here – it is not the one true church for sure and we can definitely still learn and incorporate a lot of stuff from other denominations, but there are a couple of specifically vineyard things that i really do [...]

Ted Dekker 'Burn' should be

finished reading Ted Dekker new book 'burn' last nite that he wrote with some woman lady - dude, don't do that again. Took me so long to get into it because nothing was happening - well there was a plot and some money and a fire and a whole colony of dead gypsy's except the three who escaped that the story revolves around, but just not in the must-turn-the-page thriller mode Dekker normally works into [...]

blessed are the bible-flippers…

so bible-flipping is not an exact science but when i flipped open mine this morning and it landed on psalm 73, i think that was divinely nudged to the nth degree... 'Surely God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart. But as for me, my feet had almost slipped; I had nearly lost my foothold. For I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. They have no [...]

Deadfall by Robert Liparulo [and bad christian movies]

so we wait with bated breath til some Christ-followers can actually write, direct, film and act in a movie that is worth watching... there have been some that come close but at the moment it's still 'secular' movies like The Blind Side and Dead Man Walking that seem to portray Christian love, grace, acceptance and forgiveness better than any 'Christian' film i am yet to see, and i sadly still believe that most 'Christian' movies [...]
