The Simplest of Extremes

Why does it seem to be such a fine line between the extremes of what brings me great joy or incredible anger? The Art of Traffic'ing Take traffic for example. You want to bring me deep joy? Offer me a space in front of you when i am trying to make my way into a busy road. Or even just wave a thank you or flash your lights at me when i have made [...]

psalmthing to chew on: psalm 52

i think the first very interesting thing to note with this psalm is the intro: 'For the director of music. A maskil  of David. When Doeg the Edomite had gone to Saul and told him: “David has gone to the house of Ahimelek.”' if you read the first seven verses you see David's response to basically 'being told on' and he is not amused. should we learn from that example of David and go to ourselves, 'ah cool, [...]

pramnesia [which is why we got to pray, just to make it today]

"Just part one ocean in front of me, once, God, and i will never doubt you again!" that's how i think sometimes. but a huge part of me knows it unlikely to be true. it wasn't enuff for the Israelites [a day later they were whining about water so God made  it appear out of a rock, then it was food and God made bread appear six days a week, then it was about the [...]

psalmthing to chew on: psalm 36

another psalm from David and again, it appears as if he hadn't committed his major facefall yet as he is still muttering about those who have "no fear of God before their eyes." [vs. 1] but once he has gotten over looking at "them" and "their awful sin" he has some useful things to say [so useful we turned them into songs... from songs into other songs that it] Your love, Lord, reaches to the [...]

psalmthing to chew on: psalm 31 [aka the game of thrones psalm]

verse 23 jumped out at me: 'Love the Lord, all his faithful people! The Lord preserves those who are true to him, but the proud he pays back in full.' my translation says, 'The Lord preserves the faithful...' and i found it an interesting contrast - faithful vs proud - because i don't think we would naturally see them as opposites... yet when i think of being faithful the immediate connection is the idea of [...]

psalmthing to chew on: psalm 27

this is a great psalm... so rich... but i am just going to pull out one or two things as usual and once again would love to hear what stood out for you... 'The Lord is my light and my salvation — whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life — of whom shall I be afraid?' [vs.1] such a strong, powerful start and the reminder to us that this is [...]

psalmthing to chew on: psalm 3

continuing my journey of reading through the psalms at a leisurely pace, making some observations as i go along, inviting you to jump in to the comments section with a verse or idea or question or wrestle that possibly jumped out at you as you were reading this particular psalm: PSALM 3 'Many are saying of me, "God will not deliver him." But...' [verse 2] i think this stood out for me and possibly not [...]

why i believe that God is not faithfull

i was thinking about this the other day and it's a pretty silly semantical thort but it was mine and that it was too. [eh hem] and hopefully someone is already penning me an email [can one do that?] to tell me i spelt 'faithful' wrong, without reading the blog post [those are some of my favourite people] but actually that was the thort that ran thru my head the other day God is faithful, [...]

trust God but have a, um no don't.

so me and tbV have been in a place of really trusting God for the future and for just general every day life and i haven't wanted to blog about a lot of it because when you start mentioning stuff and people start responding to 'save you from the crises' then it kinda cancels out a lot of the trust element... but i will say this. when you are trusting God and not having a [...]

new pome: Oh

Oh. Oh? As in really? You... you're sure? Certain? All-powerful. Oh? Faithful. Oh? All-loving. Unconditionally so. Even me? Even my stuff? Me? Oh? Oh really? As in 'really really?' Like real miracles? Actual miraculous occurances? Blind seeing, deaf hearing, lame walking? Dead being raised? Oh. I get it. It's a metaphoric death. An inner blindness. Deaf to the words of the Holy Scriptures speaking to my disobedient ears. Able to walk tall in the knowledge [...]
