love and chocolate

the highest form of chocolate

i read this t-shirt once that said "forget love, i want to fall in chocolate" - now while i disagree completely, because love is a pretty amazing thing, i do still like the idea of the possibility of one day falling into chocolate... mmmm cho-co-late [in best homer simpson impressioned voice] but until that happens, i thort it was time to share my secrets with the world - i like chocolate on occasion... or occasions... [...]

the double tease

so i recently was on an orange river trip with a bunch of youth okes linked to a southern suburbs church youth group... two of the guys on the trip wore t-shirts (which i addressed with them both - one directly and one a little more indirectly cos i couldn't remember who had been wearing it) which distressed me a lot [1] cartoon picture made up of two blocks - in the first block a [...]

for the sake of the chores

so i have been married for about 14 months yesterday and i still completely highly recommend it if it is to the right person - it is not always easy - it is sometimes really hard - but it is incredible and the pros definitely outbeat-up-and-leave-bleeding-behind-the-shed the cons... and i love the beautiful Val - really feel privileged and lucky and amazed that i have someone like her in my life... yay. the one thing [...]

blessed are the retards…

for they will be seen as human! i'm not sure why i was thinking about this today but i was driving back from dropping off our recycling (oh wait, it just hit me, never mind) and this thort came in to my head - i wish that i knew how to relate to handicapped people better when i was a little kid my folks used to take me to this place called the Avril Elizabeth [...]

dreading the marriage

or marrying the dreaded? i am leaving in an hour or so for the airport to head for durban where on sat i will be marrying dreadlocked mike and nancy the twin (just in case there is any confusion about the nicknames i have given these two, mike has dreads and nancy is a twin... smooth.) and i am so super amped - i have written my marriage licence test but i have yet to [...]

marriage to the right person – highly recommendable

so in exactly one week's time i will have been married to the beautiful Val for exactly one year - and what a year it's been! as i say often to people - 'marriage is highly recommended... to the right person!' and the 'to the right person' bit is the key - not cos i believe in any kind of God-brings-this-person-and-that-person-together necessarily or that i believe that there is only one 'the one' as opposed [...]

reasons to hate Christianity – part I

let’s face it – Christians are not among the most loved and respected people when it comes to those outside of the church and i have often wondered why this is and so i started thinking about some of the core basics of this religion and suddenly it makes a lot of sense. When you look at what Christians intrinsically fundamentally believe (i’m not talking how some of them act or those who claim to [...]

i owe, i owe…

‘Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law.’ [romans 13.8] i love that verse.  i have been reading romans for quite a long time now and i just keep getting stuck on that verse any time I am near it the continuing debt to love one another – what a cool way to be in debt – and the idea [...]

rowing the mance

i find loving my wife very easy. and i’m not just talking about the flutter flutter feeling “ooh i luv my wife” but love in action i would like to imagine everyone loves their wife as well as i do but i’m sure a lot of people don’t. and i’m not talking from an arrogant point of “ooh look at me, look at how well i love my wife” but just a day to day [...]
