“Weekly Photo Challenge: (Surprise)”

i think Freddy Mercury said it best when he sang, "Can anybody find meeeeeeeee, some bunny to love." at first glance this may not seem to fully encompass the theme of 'Surprise' but what if i told you that your name was the beautiful Val [tbV] and it was around 2 in the morning and you had gone to sleep after a bit of a rough evening and been woken up to this friendly bunny [...]

new Dangerous Things You Can Least Expect video… possibly best yet?

if you have never watched or heard of a Brad Fish 'Dangerous Things You Can Least Expect' video then where have you been? Brad Fish is an alternative persona of Brett Fish [heeeeeey!?!] who runs a You Tube show in which he gives wise wisdom [is there any other kind?] in terms of friendly warning to prepare people from things they might have thought of as being innocent and dangerless but which in fact turn [...]

Common Change: If you want to make the world a better place…

for the last 19 months, myself and my beautiful wife Valerie have been living and working with the Simple Way Christian non-profit organisation in Philadelphia, Americaland and yesterday was our last official office day... we fly out back towards South Africa on the 30th of December... can't wait! but what next? well we hope to spend around a month and a half at home and then [providing we find the financial support we will need [...]

actually it IS the end of the world [as we know it]

as depicted so well in my previous post by Stephan Pastis of Pearls Before Swine cartoon fame, R.E.M. had something when they came up with their hit song that 73% of people know the two words "Leonard Bernstein" [but is it pronounced Steen or Styn? another mystery] to - It's the end of the world as we know it. with Australia and Americaland being on different days for a huge portion of any 24 hour [...]

it's the end of the world as we [me, R.E.M. and Stephan Pastis] know it…

turns out the Mayans were wrong. or the apocalypse is working on African time. or we were wrong in predicting that just cos the Mayans didn't carve a stone big enough to fit more days on that it meant the end of the world [were they maybe just trying to get us all to buy the next stone, hm?] but whichever one it was, i figured this was a great moment to whip out one [...]

psalmthing to chew on: psalm 47

this is a short psalm with a big focus on praising God: 'Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy. For the Lord Most High is awesome, the great King over all the earth.' [verse 1-2] which is a great thing to be reminded of. especially when times are tough and we feel more at home reading how God is with us even when we are walking through the valley [...]

i need to be stronger.

i don't feel very strong right now. i feel wronged. badly done by. hurt. betrayed. disappointed. and yet again and again it comes back to me that the call is on me to forgive. pride. ego. self-righteousness. my idea of "justice". all these things rally against me, trying to convince me that i am in the right [maybe i am] and that the other should approach me [maybe they should] and seek peace and restoration. [...]

scattered thoughts on the newtown shooting, but mostly some important names…

on December 8, 1980, John Lennon, member of one of the most famous rock bands in the world, the Beatles, was shot and killed. his killer's name - Mark Chapman. how do i know that? possibly the only reason i do is that i have a friend called Mark Chapman, and so it has come up... but when i think back to people who were killed many years ago, there are some cases where i [...]

Weekly Photo Challenge: (delicate)

nope, i just couldn't do it. narrowed my selection down to two and was trying to pick the photo that best represents 'Delicate' to me, but really could not choose between these two, so decided i had to share them both. what strikes me about the selection is the two completely different interpretations of the challenge that are presented: the first one is a picture of our Christmas tree star: "not a star?" i hear [...]

Taboo Topics: Singleness – meet Dale Nunes

MY JOURNEY TO SINGLENESS Some of you might already be trying to work out what my title really means; but it is as it says it is, my journey to singleness. I have a reached a point in my life where I am pretty happy about being single. This has not been an overnight destination and I must admit that there are times that I wish I could be married, but for most of the [...]
