not cheese but hope

This article first appeared in The Mercury on 27 June 2011 [and arrived in my inbox this morning] Hope n. the feeling that events will turn out for the best. I recently attended a small birthday party and Hope showed up. I wasn’t necessarily expecting her to be there, but that’s Hope for you; she always arrives when you least expect her. She appeared suddenly and silently. It was almost as if she ‘spirited’ into [...]

i am busy trying to get inspired to write some more of my book which looks like it is heading towards the end quadrant of it's being writtenment [just for you, Lisa!] and i have half an eye on Twitter where @sharnefinn and @mattnixonjames are keeping me well upto date on how well the DA is doing most places... my other half eye and click finger keep bouncing to the game of http://www.news24.com/maps which has [...]

you can please all of the people

none of the time. i had this quick thort when we went shopping yesterday afternoon - as we were in the line about to pay we realised we were six eggs short of a full basket, or that we might need more than the six we were going to get, so tbV waited in line and i ran across Pick 'n Pay to the egg section to grab some eggs - looked for the cheapest [...]

not quite as simple, it seems

so yesterday's "this is what the andersons are going to be up to" bloggage received a lot more attention than i suspected it would, and pretty firmly divided into two groups of responses: those who knew us, who said nice things about us and wished us good times and most importantly got excited with us for this adventure that we are about to embark on those who don't know us who by and large said [...]

i believe! help me overcome my unbelief

my good friend and distant tag team buddy sean du toit sent me a link to this article titled 'As an atheist, I truly believe Africa needs God.' Very cool article and worth reading the whole thing but here is an excerpt: It inspired me, renewing my flagging faith in development charities. But travelling in Malawi refreshed another belief, too: one I've been trying to banish all my life, but an observation I've been unable [...]

when humour crosses the line it's not a joke…

Bloomberg Businessweek is one of the publications that carries the story of comedian Gilbert Gottfriend [probly don't recognise the name but if you're old you would probly recognise him from the 'The Problem Child' movies with John Ritter as well as being the voice of Iago from the Aladdin movies] who was fired this week after Tweeting inappropriate jokes about the Japanese crisis... 'March 14 (Bloomberg) -- Aflac Inc., the biggest seller of supplemental insurance, [...]

i kissed dating, part number one thing

i believe it is imperative that THE NUMBER 1 THING IN YOUR LIFE IS THE NUMBER 1 THING IN HER LIFE [i'm talking guy to girl here, but all of this flows both ways] when it comes to passion and interests and hobbies and so on there is room to have differing, even at times opposing interests, but NOT WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR PRIMARY FOCUS and joy and directional force. in the context of [...]

i kissed dating, part get to know the person first

i really believe this is ONE OF THE FUNDAMENTAL KEYS to a REVOLUTIONISED SYSTEM OF DATING... there is a trend that happens specifically in christian contexts (altho i am sure there are equivalent secular contexts that promote the same thing - like actors making a movie together for example) which contributes to a lot of debris in relationships WHICH COULD EASILY BE AVOIDED... the mathematical equation reads something like 'bunch of christian guys' + 'bunch [...]
